Abstract
In this talk, we will take a brief trip wandering around the powerful Langlands--Shahidi theory of constructing L-functions systematically.
This is the first part of a two-part lecture, the second of which concerns our work on the Casselman-Shahidi conjecture (about the singularity of intertwining operators) and will be presented in the local conference on arithmetic algebraic geometry (March 26, 10:30-11:30, M1001).
