Abstract: Dendritic crystal growth is a common spontaneous pattern formation with multi-branching tree-like structures. In this colloquium, we will discuss a model of dendritic crystal growth and analyze advantages and disadvantages of different numerical schemes related with the scalar auxiliary variable method.
