Several conjectures in algebraic graph theory relate global and local properties. I’ll talk about a problem where “global" refers to the number of automorphisms of a graph, and local refers to certain conditions placed on the local action - that is, how a vertex-stabiliser acts on the neighbours of a vertex. Together with Michael Giudici, also of UWA, we have made some recent progress that I will report on.
