Optimization Approaches for the Equilibrium Shape of the Solid-State Dewetting

Abstract: Finding the equilibrium shape of the solid state dewetting problem is an important problem in material science. In this talk, we discrete the energy functional and propose efficient numerical algorithms based on the difference of convex function algorithm (DCA) solving this non-convex optimization problem. This method is energy dissipation, mass conservation during the iteration process. In addition, we can show some physical features that the traditional methods can not.
