Abstract

We give a proof of a generalization of Birkhoff pointwise ergodic theorem which is called the Wiener Wintner pointwise ergodic theorem. (If time permits we will present two proofs; one using the van der Corput Lemma and the second the affinity principle). As an application we will prove the double recurrrence theorem for the L2 norm.
