Mathematics in Ideal Free Distribution I

Abstract: These two lectures are focused on some mathematical models for ideal free distribution (IFD), a theory from biology which tries to address the following question: How should organisms distribute itself, given the distribution of resources? A central theme of the lectures is:  Are strategies leading to IFD evolutionarily stable? We will cover ODE models and nonlocal models (Lecture 1) and PDE models (Lecture 2). Lecture 1 will be accessible to undergraduate students, and both lectures are accessible to graduate students.
