Abstract: The problem of understanding and prescribing the Jacobian determinant is involved in many branches of mathematics, partial differential equations, differential geometry, elasticity, dynamical systems, geometric function theory, harmonic analysis... This is an interesting but difficult question, since it's a strongly sub-determined PDE. In this talk, we will try to show some main developments around this problem in the last two decades.
