We present two  approaches based on domain embedding to construct efficient spectral methods for solving PDEs in complex domains. One is based on a rectangular embedding, the other is based on a circular embedding. We present ample numerical results on elliptic PDEs and Helmholtz equations on smooth and polygonal complex domains to validate our algorithms.
