Antipodal sets in irreducible symmetric spaces

An antipodal set in a symmetric space is a set such that all points are fixed points of the geodesic symmetry with center of any point in this set. We give a way of classifying antipodal sets in symmetric spaces. For irreducible symmetric spaces, we show a precise classification.
